Jackson knew Sugar was awake by how stiffly she laid under his arm. Her body was like a live wire ready to snap. This did not bode well for the coming conversation, but he was a man who didn’t like to put off unpleasant things, so he said, “You okay?”

He was pretty sure she was about to tell him they’d made a terrible mistake. Since they had, he figured she had a point. Not that he regretted what had just happened. He didn’t and he’d be annoyed if she did. Because Sugar screaming his name had been the best thing that had ever happened to him.

“No, Jackson, I’m not okay,” she said, a growl in her tone.

A little shiver of lust shook through him, but he stamped it out. Now was not the time to try to get his sexy on. Sugar was dead serious and he might end up losing a limb if he wasn’t careful. “I understand,” he said, since he did.

She wiggled out from under him, and while he didn’t restrain her, he didn’t help her either, allowing himself to enjoy the full body brush she inadvertently gave him. Man oh man, she was all woman. Curves that went on for miles, full perfect breasts, and a rear end he could stare at for hours. Sugar was perfect on every level.

“I do not need to tell you this was a contract breach on your part and an offense I could be fired for on mine.”

When she put it like that, it did seem dire. “Okay,” he said, because even so, he didn’t regret it.

She wrapped her arms around her legs, a motion he could feel more than see since his flashlight had died sometime during their love play. “You are supposed to be choosing a fiancée. That is the whole point of this show.”

“I know it is. I choose you,” he said, feeling like in for a penny, in for a pound. As far as he was concerned, he had come here to find someone and he had.

A little part of him whispered about his dreams to get back in space. Well, he’d just need to talk Hank Carson into making Sugar one of the contestants. Then he’d choose Sugar and it would all work out. Problem solved.

Something told him Sugar wouldn’t like this idea, so he wisely kept silent about it. He’d just have to sneak in, call Hank, and lay the idea out to him.

“Whoa,” Sugar said, and even in the pitch dark, he could feel her holding out her hands to stop him. “You can NOT choose me. I am NOT a choice.” She scrambled around in the dark for her clothes.

“Well, that’s unfortunate because I have chosen you.” He laid back, feeling her shirt under him. She wasn’t going to escape this uncomfortable conversation. Not that she could escape. They were locked in here together.

“That’s impossible.”

“Nothing is impossible,” he said. It was his personal motto and he was sticking to it.

“I am not a contestant.
